My New Website

I've had a personal website since 2012, and in the past it was used almost exclusively to promote my books and as a place to talk about my writing. As time has gone on, I realized that I wasn't using it much anymore, and it was in serious need of an upgrade.

I decided to transfer arigby.com away from GoDaddy/Wordpress and give it new life on Squarespace, where it now lives here. The tremendous functionality and ease to edit on this platform makes managing and updating a personal website such a breeze.

With a new look, I knew I wanted to make my website about more than just my writing. I wanted it to cover all of my favorite things in life. I wanted it to be bigger, bolder, better.

So, I've decided to focus it on my three main passions: writing, traveling, and creating. I think it's important to still use this space to promote and talk about my writing, as it is a big part of me and I am proud of the pieces I've written. I've included information about my three published novels, with excerpts and links to where you can buy them. I've also decided to share my recent poems and short stories on a public platform for the first time. A few of them have been published on other sites, but this is the first time I've ever had them on my website. It feels good.

If you know me, you are well aware that I love to travel, and I thought it would be fun to use this website as a kind of travel blog that keeps track of where I've been, and where I'm going. In a way, it may kind of function as a journal for my own use, but I hope others find it entertaining and useful as well. Right now, there's nothing I love more than exploring a new national park, so I've decided to highlight the ones I've been to in their own section. And being the good Pacific Northwesterner that I am, I've also dedicated a page to hiking, covering all of the trails I've been lucky enough to set foot on.

The creative section showcases Allegory Ridge, the magazine I am the Editor-in-Chief of, as well as some of my photography that hasn't been highlighted anywhere else on the site. As an editor and publishing professional, I also thought it would be a good idea to showcase some of the books I've worked on and share a bit of insight into my work life and the companies I've been at.

As time goes on I hope to update this blog section semi-regularly, and especially have it focus on pop culture, as there's nowhere else on this site for that content to fall into. I love discussing the books I'm reading, the shows I'm watching, the movies I've just seen, and the tunes I can't stop listening to. This will be the place to recap my current faves.

As of now the new arigby.com is still a work in progress, but I hope to have it all fleshed out pretty soon. I hope you'll check back from time to time to see what's new!

xoxo, Alex
